What We Do
In the northern region of Dickson County lies the historic village of Cumberland Furnace, a place that holds the distinction of being the site of the first ironworks in the region, ultimately becoming part of Middle Tennessee. As the oldest community south of the Cumberland River between Nashville and Clarksville, it has played a pivotal role in shaping Dickson County into a thriving manufacturing area from its earliest days on the frontier.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the birthplace of the Western Highland Rim iron industry through captivating museum exhibits, meticulous artifact preservation, and engaging events. Join us in exploring and celebrating the unique history of this community!
"History is for human self-knowledge ... the only clue to what man can do is what man has done. The value of history, then, is that it teaches us what man has done and thus what man is."
